Costa Rica offers great surf year-round, perfect for beginners, intermediates, and advanced surfers.
Where to surf in Santa Teresa?
High Season – Playa Carmen: Our closest beach, Playa Carmen, is just a few minutes’ walk from the camp. This sandy beach is ideal for all levels and lets you practice outside lessons when conditions are good.
Wet Season – Playa Hermosa: During the wet season, we usually surf at Playa Hermosa, a short drive from the camp. With a sand-bottom break, it offers consistent waves for all skill levels.
Advanced Surfing – Sunset Reef: Advanced surfers can explore Sunset Reef, a left-hand reef break located near the camp. It’s perfect for honing your reef-breaking skills.
What surf equipment do I need in Costa Rica?
All surf equipment is included if you book a surf package with us.
If you prefer your own board, we recommend bringing it. You can also try our selection of boards to test different sizes during your stay.
For “stay only” bookings, surf equipment can be rented directly at the camp.
The water is warm year-round, so you can surf in bikinis or boardshorts.
Protect yourself from the sun with a rash guard, hat, leggings, or other gear.
