Fuerteventura offers a wide variety of waves, with options for surfers of all levels year-round. Because the island has three different coastlines, our surf coaches can usually find good conditions no matter the swell or wind direction.

You’ll find:

  • Beach breaks

  • Reef breaks

  • Point breaks

Most surf spots are within a 20-minute drive of the camp, giving us plenty of flexibility in choosing where to surf.

Is Fuerteventura good for beginner surfers?

Yes, Fuerteventura is well-suited to beginners year-round. Summer tends to bring slightly smaller, more playful waves, while winter offers more power. The summertime is perfect for beginners and those who want to practice in less challenging conditions.

Even when bigger swells hit the island in wintertime, there are always more sheltered waves suitable for learning and progression.

How do the surf conditions change between seasons?

Surfing in Fuerteventura is possible year-round, with small seasonal differences.

  • Winter: More consistent Atlantic swells and generally bigger waves

  • Summer: Smaller waves, often ideal for beginners and technique practice

No matter when you visit, our coaches adapt the surf plan to match your level and the day’s conditions.

Is surf equipment included at Lapoint Fuerteventura?

Yes, all surf equipment needed for your surf lessons is included in your surf course.

That means:

  • Surfboard suited to your level

  • Wetsuit

  • Leash and all necessary gear

If you don’t bring your own equipment, you’ll still be fully set up to surf comfortably!

What wetsuit do I need for surfing in Fuerteventura?

A 3/2 wetsuit is perfect for surfing in Fuerteventura most of the year. If you tend to get cold, you might prefer a 4/3 wetsuit in winter.

  • Winter: 3/2 (or 4/3 if you get cold easily)

  • Summer: 3/2, shortie, or sometimes board shorts/bikini on warmer days

Mornings can feel cooler, so we always recommend bringing a wetsuit to the beach just in case.
