Nicaragua offers consistent waves, warm water, and uncrowded lineups, making it ideal for all levels, from total beginners to advanced surfers.
This coastline is known for:
Reliable swell almost year-round
Offshore winds (hello clean conditions)
Empty peaks compared to more crowded destinations
Is Nicaragua good for beginner surfers?
Yes, Nicaragua is a great place to learn how to surf, with soft beach breaks and safe, beginner-friendly conditions.
Our go-to beginner spots include:
Nahualapa
Los Clavos beach break
Aposentillo
The first two are within walking distance from camp, so you can roll out of bed and into the ocean. Aposentillo is about a 15–20-minute drive and is perfect for progression.
Where do advanced surfers surf in Nicaragua?
Advanced surfers get access to more powerful and performance-focused waves nearby. One of our main advanced spots is Coco Loco, around 15–20 minutes from camp.
Do I need a wetsuit in Nicaragua?
No wetsuit needed. The water is warm all year round. Instead, we recommend using a rashguard for sun protection.
Is surf equipment included at the camp?
Yes, surfboards are included if you book surf lessons.
We’ve got a full quiver available, including:
Soft tops for beginners
Hardboards for intermediate to advanced surfers
Sizes ranging from 6’0 to 7’6
If you’re joining surf guiding only:
Equipment is not included
You can bring your own board or rent one at camp
