Many people think that they are going to kite all day every day, and that 12 hours sounds like not much kiting. There are only two-four students on each instructor and each hour is very intense and effective. Normally we do two sessions of 1-2 hours each day, 3-4 hours in total per day. Students and instructors need breaks / food and water to improve. It is also nice to chill in between the kiting and watch others at the beach. Almost no kiter can stay in the water kiting for 6 hours during a day – we would be dehydrated and exhausted during a kite course you get even more tired. But if there is still time for kiting after your lessons are done, feel free to rent gear under the only condition that your instructor thinks that you are independent enough. If not, it is not safe and you would need to buy more lessons.
